A large home in an ideal location is a gift to any designer, but one that was custom built with peak 1980s shapes and lines was a special challenge to bring into the modern age. Using an eclectic mix of warm tones, midcentury themes and natural elements, this home took shape to become one of the most interesting projects done to date.

“Bigger houses aren’t always easier to design - they have multiple vantage points, lots of transition areas and tall ceilings. Fitting everyone into common areas becomes a challenge too. Defining the spaces as unique but connected is vital.”
A subtle midcentury modern style was the perfect fit for this home since so many spaces called for pops of color and the home’s shape leant itself to a little more eccentricity. The client's main request was to incorporate their love for busy designs and vintage finds with bold colors, making sure to create a cohesive and inviting space. Set right on a rushing creek, this house was not only designed for style but also the comfort of 20+ guests at a time enjoying the nature, hiking, swimming and fishing available in a secluded setting. These natural elements were incorporated in subtle ways throughout the home, blending the outside with the in.
