Genius Kids’ Rooms for Every Age

We all want our kids to be happy, healthy and safe. But if they could find ways to entertain themselves in their rooms that would be great too. Kids rooms are hard because you want the base to be timeless for when your child grows, but you also want them to see their room as a fun and comfortable place to both play and sleep.

If you have tall ceilings, creating vertical space is a great way to engage kids with the entire volume of their room. Consider lofts or bunk beds, climbing towers, monkey bars, swings and more that will keep being fun no matter your child’s age!

No one likes clutter, not even the kids who make it. IKEA’s series of storage systems for kids can be used as both internal storage and desk area to draw and color to your heart’s content. With bins of all sizes that can be easily removed for toy rotations, this storage set is a staple.

Most of our favorite things are things that can be two things! This wardrobe that doubles as a reading nook is the perfect cozy hideaway for book lovers of all ages.

Forts, tents, and more can increase a room’s play space by making other, separate spaces that kids can use or that can be put away. For camping play, castle play, or any other make believe, these spaces offer tons of entertainment.

If you have the space to do built-in furniture, a playground-bed-closet-storage all in one is a fun alternative to having all of those furniture spaces be different. It’s unique and kids will have lots of fun exploring all the nooks and crannies.

Or, if you just have some wall space you don’t know what to do with, consider a small gym space that can provide kids with a fun place to play when the playground may be unavailable due to rain or winter. Ropes, ladders, monkey bars and rings can all work together in one small frame, kind of like a kids’ at home gym.
