Moody designs in a modern cabin setting.

When this cabin was purchased by a family that wanted to create a unique sanctuary, they turned to Lucy Small and allowed her to implement her vision of a cozy, tucked away escape. Using a combination of modern and rustic elements, she created a one-of-a-kind living space that perfectly blends into the natural surroundings with high-class, old-world elements, giving this cabin a historic feel. Using darker tones to accentuate large, viewpoint windows and bring coziness to the height of the tall gables ceilings, this North Georgia cabin is truly one of a kind.

Adding black paint to a cabin doesn’t make it moody. As designers our job isn’t just to add black or white to darken or lighten a room - we have to put in contrast to a space to increase its richness, highlight what we want, and make the rest disappear.

Rarely clients purchase a large house and want it to be smaller, but coziness is designed by creating spaces that feel tucked around the furnishings, features and even people in a home. Even in large spaces with tall ceilings, the role of bringing in a sense of comfort and tranquility falls to color and texture. That’s why increasing both is so vital to achieving a comprehensive look.

We do our best to rise to the occasion of creating unique spaces, which is why sourcing unique lighting, wallpapers and furnishings is important toward achieving a custom look. Still, sometimes, it's the little details that can make all the difference. This is where decorative accessories come in. From small trinkets to meaningful decor pieces, adding these finishing touches can elevate a space and truly make it feel like home. For this project, we carefully curated accessories to suit the style while still pushing the boundaries of what was to be expected.
